What is GBIS?

The Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) is a government-backed program that offers a range of insulation measures to eligible households. The scheme focuses on improving the energy efficiency of homes by providing insulation solutions that help retain heat, reduce energy consumption, and lower carbon emissions.

Who is Eligible?

GBIS targets two main eligibility groups:

General Eligibility Group: This group includes households that:
- Live in homes within Council Tax bands A-D in England, A-E in Scotland, and A-E in Wales.
- Have a Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) rating of D and below1.
Low-Income Group: This group includes households where:
- Someone in the house receives eligible benefits such as Income-based Jobseekers Allowance, Income-related Employment and Support Allowance, Pension Credit Guarantee Credit, and others
- The house qualifies for Local Authority Flexibility (LA Flex) under specific routes

Available Measures

Under the GBIS, a variety of insulation measures are available to eligible households, including but not limited to:

Cavity Wall Insulation: Insulating the cavity walls to reduce heat loss.
Loft Insulation: Adding insulation to the loft to prevent heat from escaping through the roof.
Solid Wall Insulation: Insulating solid walls to improve thermal efficiency.
Heating Controls: Installing programmable room thermostats and thermostatic radiator valves to optimise heating
