Loft Insulation
What Is Loft Insulation?
Loft insulation is a thick mineral fibre material that lays between and over the joists in your loft or roof. It captures heat normally lost through the roof and stops draughts from getting in.
What are the benefits of loft insulation?
Up to a quarter of a home’s heat can be lost through an uninsulated loft. Loft insulation is an easy way to stop that heat loss, cutting your carbon footprint and making savings on your bills in the process!
Installing loft insulation is as simple as unrolling a rug. A mineral fibre material is laid between the joists and then over the joists in your loft or roof. This thick material captures heat normally lost through the roof and stops draughts from getting in.
If you already have loft insulation, you could still benefit from a top-up. If your insulation is 100mm or less, you can increase it to the recommended level of 270mm.
We use Knauf Insulation Loft Roll 44 which is a non-combustible Glass Mineral Wool roll with the best possible Euroclass A1 reaction to fire classification, and is manufactured using Knauf Insulation’s unique bio-based binder, ECOSE® Technology.
Is Loft insulation Suitable For My Home?
Loft insulation is suitable for your home if:
- It hasn’t been installed already
- You have access to your loft space
- You haven’t had insulation removed in the last 6 months
- Your current insulation has a thickness of 100mm or less – you can easily check this with a ruler or tape measure
